CERTIFICATE COURSE IN HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT


ABOUT COURSE

The college has introduced one year diploma course in Hospitality Management from the session 2015-16 under UGC sponsored Community College Scheme. This Skill based course is assessed by sector Skill Council under NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation). The intake capacity of this course is 50 numbers. The main strength of this course is job placement to students. Students for the skill parts of this course is trained by NSDC training partner & general part is done by the college faculty. 50% placement of the first batch has been confirmed in different organization of the state vig. Borgos Resort, Kaziranga, Dominos Pizza India (Guwahati), Anamika Motors (Sivasagar), Konwar TVS (Sivasagar), Axis Bank(Sivasagar), ICICI Bank (Sivasagar), HDFC Micro Credit (Jorhat), Hotel Ambarish (Guwahati) etc.

AIM
To give formal instruction and training to students to become ‘Future Manager of the Event Industry’. So that their technical proficiency to effective adjust, grow and excel in the field of Event Management.

SCHEME
Certificate course will consist of two part.
Part I- Theory papers to cover the essentials of curriculum.
Part II- Practical paper and Industry training.

COURSE CONTENTS


EM 001: PRINCIPAL OF EVENT MANAGEMENT

UNIT I Historical Perspective, Introduction to Event Management,Size and type of event, Event Team, Code of Ethics.
UNIT II Principles of Event Management,Concept and designing,analysis of concept, logistics of concept.
UNIT III Feasibility,Keys to success, SWOT Analysis.

EM 002: EVENT PLANNING AND MARKETING

UNIT I Aim of event, Develop a mission, Establish Objectives, Preparing event proposal, use of Planning tools.
UNIT II Protocol Dress codes, Staging, Saffing, Leadership skills, Management.
UNIT III Nature of Marketing, Process of event Marketing, Marketing mix, Sponsorship, Advertising and Event Publicity, Image and Branding, Public relation.
UNIT IV Event Photography & Video Editing.

EM 003:BASIC EVENT ACCOUNTING AND BUDGETING

Accounts keeping, Profit and loss statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statement, Break event point, Budgeting, Budget preparation, Panic Payments, Financial Control System.


EM 004:PRACTICAL PAPER

There will be three Theory Papers of three hours duration carring 100 Marks each. Out of these 100 marks, 80 marks will be the weightage for final theory paper and 20 marks will be for internal assessment for the sessional work.
In practical paper, students will be tested for planning, concept, designing, and layout of an event, Practical paper will carry 100 marks.
