An Anti-Dowry Sensitisation Programme was organised at Sibsagar Commerce College by the Women’s Studies Cell in collaboration with IQAC. The convenor, Ms. Mrinali Mahanta, highlighted the continued atrocities faced by women due to the dowry system and urged students to stand against this social evil. The Principal, Dr. Saumar Jyoti Mahanta, spoke on the legal aspects and challenges in eradicating dowry practices. Dr. Ankita Borbora emphasized the importance of women’s financial independence in combating the issue. The programme concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to work towards ending the practice of dowry.
