The Department of Mathematics & Statistics was started in 1997. Initially, the department was offering the subject of Commercial Arithmetic and Elementary Statistics in the H.S. level and Business Statistics and Mathematics in annular mode in graduation level. In 2011, Dibrugarh University introduced Semester System and since then the Department offers Core and Generic elective Courses in B. Com program under CBCS, Dibrugarh University and one add on course approved by Dibrugarh University in “Certificate Course in Quantitative Aptitude”
The department has following objectives:
• To develop quantitative aptitude and reasoning ability among students.
• To encourage the student to use Software like R, SPSS etc for data analysis.
• To create a researcher- friendly environment for the students.
